ASTALOKA UKM–PSU Mobility Community Programme 2024

Pengenalan

The ASTALOKA Mobility Community Programme is a collaboration between Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Thailand. It aims to foster volunteerism, improve community well-being, and provide students with valuable hands-on community service experience while strengthening cross-cultural ties.

Objectif

  • Expose rural communities in Thailand to health and well-being initiatives.
  • Provide international-level community programme experience for students.
  • Cultivate students’ knowledge and confidence in practicing noble values for sustainable living.

Kerjasama

  • Global: Prince of Songkla University (PSU), Trang, Thailand
  • Community Partner: Ban Thung Khai School

Aktiviti Program

  • Dust Be-Gone & Germs Be-Gone: Hygiene and cleaning project with 3R principles.
  • Light of Hope: Architectural installation creating better study spaces for schoolchildren.

  • 20 PSU students
  • Funding: UKM, PSU, and sponsorships

Impak

  • Benefited Ban Thung Khai School and the Trang community.
  • Improved English engagement and social responsibility awareness.
  • Strengthened Malaysia–Thailand ties in education and community development.

Kesimpulan

This programme expands collaboration between UKM and PSU, paving the way for future joint degrees, student mobility, and research initiatives while fostering strong Malaysia–Thailand relations.

Program 3S@FKAB (Sihat, Selamat & Sejahtera)

Tarikh: 2024 & 2025

Lokasi: UKM Bangi Campus

Pengenalan

The 3S@FKAB Program (Healthy, Safe & Prosperous) is an initiative by FKAB to create a healthier, safer, and more harmonious environment for staff and students. It integrates health awareness, workplace safety, ergonomics, and well-being practices to improve quality of life and productivity.

Objektif

  • Increase Health Awareness – health screenings, talks, lifestyle promotion.
  • Ensure a Safe Environment – safety training and campaigns.
  • Enhance Mental & Emotional Well-being – motivational sessions and support programs.
  • Promote Ergonomic Practices – posture and workspace design education.
  • Boost Productivity & Quality of Life – healthier staff and students perform better.

Using Serious Games – The HRTW Game Experience

Pengenalan

Course KKKF3103: Project Management integrates the HR Toxic Workplace (HRTW) serious game to go beyond theory and provide practical engagement. The game simulates project management challenges and cultivates empathy, teamwork, and leadership as essential skills for effective project managers.

Objektif

  • Develop empathy, teamwork, leadership, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Provide hands-on project management experience beyond classroom theory.
  • Use serious games for active learning and problem-solving practice.

Aktiviti Program

  • Empathy & Project Management learning via the HR Toxic Workplace Game.
  • Participants: 60 (students and staff)
  • Financial Support: 10 sponsored game card sets from industry partners

  • Strengthened ties between MDEC and Malaysia’s serious games industry.
  • Enhanced empathy, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities among students.
  • Better preparedness for real-world project management and leadership.

Kesimpulan

The HRTW Game provided experiential learning by simulating workplace challenges, requiring empathetic and strategic responses. It enriched project management education by embedding empathy as a fundamental leadership skill.

Program Jalinan Kasih Komuniti Penyayang

Tarikh: 28 March 2024

Masa: 11.00 a.m. – 8.00 p.m.

Lokasi: Pusat Jagaan Rufaidah, Jenderam Hilir, Dengkil, Selangor

Pengenalan

An initiative by JKKP, FKAB UKM, bringing students and staff together with senior citizens at Pusat Jagaan Rufaidah during Ramadan. It fostered empathy, social bonding, and emotional support for the elderly.

Objektif

  • Expose students to creative thinking and effective communication.
  • Build stronger social bonds with the elderly community.

Collaboration

Local Partner: Pusat Jagaan Rufaidah

Statistik Program

  • 14 postgraduate students
  • 5 UKM staff
  • 40 elderly participants
  • Financial Support: Faculty funded

Impak

  • Strengthened UKM’s reputation in the community.

Kesimpulan

The programme benefited both students and the elderly, fostering kindness, leadership, and empathy. It is recommended to continue annually.

Promo@ng Awareness and Wellness – Screening for Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS)

Lokasi: Bangunan Canselori UKM, Bangi & Optometry Clinic, Faculty of Health Sciences, UKM, Kuala Lumpur

Pengenalan

Focused on Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), caused by prolonged use of digital devices. Common symptoms include eye strain, headaches, dry eyes, blurred vision, and shoulder pain. The programme highlights the impact of CVS on productivity and well-being.

Objektif

  • Promote ocular health under SDG 3.
  • Study prevalence and risk factors of CVS among UKM office workers.
  • Provide screening and awareness of visual ergonomics.

Kerjasama

University: Faculty of Health Sciences, UKM

Statistik Program

  • Activities: Eye examination (refraction, funduscopy, slit lamp)
  • Participants: 350 office workers
  • Financial Support: Research grant

Impak

  • Raised awareness of CVS and preventive care.
