1. Open Access Policy
The International Journal of Islamic Thought (IJIT) is a fully open access scholarly journal. All content published in the journal is made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication without subscription charges or access restrictions.
IJIT is committed to the principle that unrestricted access to scholarly research promotes the global exchange of knowledge and enhances the dissemination, visibility, and impact of academic work. In accordance with the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), users are permitted to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, link to, and use the full texts of articles for lawful scholarly purposes without requiring prior permission from the publisher or the authors, provided that appropriate attribution is given to the original work.
All articles published in IJIT are available online immediately upon publication and may be accessed by researchers, educators, students, policymakers, and the general public worldwide without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself.
Authors retain copyright of their work while granting IJIT the right of first publication. The specific terms governing the reuse and distribution of published articles are determined by the licensing agreement stated on each article and outlined in the Journal’s Copyright and Licensing Policy.
IJIT does not impose any embargo period on published content. All articles remain permanently accessible through the journal website and designated archiving and preservation systems to ensure long-term availability and scholarly accessibility.
Through its open access publishing model, IJIT seeks to advance research excellence, foster academic collaboration, and contribute to the development of Islamic thought and contemporary scholarly discourse at both national and international levels.
2. Copyright and Licensing Policy
Copyright of articles published in IJIT remains with the author(s). By submitting and publishing their work, authors agree to license the article under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), which permits unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction in any medium, provided the original work is properly cited.
Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce any copyrighted materials included in their manuscripts. IJIT shall not be held liable for any copyright infringement committed by authors.
The views and opinions expressed in the published articles are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the editors, editorial board, publisher, or affiliated institutions.
3. Archiving and Preservation Policy
The International Journal of Islamic Thought (IJIT) ensures the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content through permanent DOI registration with Crossref and archiving in the official institutional repository of the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. The journal website is regularly backed up, and all published articles remain permanently accessible through the publisher’s digital archive. In the event of journal discontinuation, published content will continue to be preserved and made available through the institutional repository and DOI infrastructure.
4. Author Self-Archiving Policy
The International Journal of Islamic Thought (IJIT) supports the dissemination and long-term preservation of scholarly research through self-archiving practices.
Authors are permitted to deposit and share the following versions of their manuscripts:
Preprint Version
Authors may deposit the original submitted manuscript (preprint) on personal websites, institutional repositories, subject repositories, or non-commercial preprint servers at any time.
Accepted Manuscript Version
Authors may deposit the accepted manuscript (postprint) after peer review and acceptance for publication in institutional repositories, personal websites, and academic networking platforms, provided that appropriate acknowledgement of IJIT as the original publication venue is included.
Published Version of Record
Authors may freely share and archive the final published PDF version available on the IJIT website immediately upon publication. The shared version must include complete bibliographic information and a link to the official article page on the IJIT website.
There is no embargo period imposed on any version of the manuscript.
Authors are encouraged to deposit their work in: Institutional repositories; Subject-specific repositories; Personal or departmental websites, and; Academic social networking platforms such as ResearchGate and Academia.edu.
Any shared version should clearly acknowledge the original publication in the International Journal of Islamic Thought (IJIT) and provide a citation to the official published version.
