INOVASI@UKM ESTABLISHES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH INCHEON INNOVATION CLUSTER (IIC), SOUTH KOREA
On 16 October 2025, the Centre for Innovation and Technology Transfer, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (INOVASI@UKM) signed a strategic collaboration agreement with the Incheon Innovation Cluster (IIC), South Korea, in conjunction with the 2025 Incheon International Environmental Technology Confex held in Incheon.
The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Sawal Hamid bin Md Ali, Director of INOVASI@UKM, and Prof. Dr. Heekwan Lee, Director of IIC. This partnership marks a significant milestone in strengthening strategic ties between the two institutions to advance innovation exchange, technology transfer, and collaborative exploration between Malaysian and Korean startups.
During the conference, UKM showcased an exhibition highlighting the UKM Innovation Park ecosystem and featured innovative products from the university’s startup company, Derialah Sdn. Bhd., founded by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mohd Shahrul Mohd Nadzir from the Faculty of Science and Technology.
In the same event, Derialah Sdn. Bhd. also signed a collaboration agreement with Greener Lab, a startup based in Incheon founded by Mr. Jun Choi. The collaboration focuses on technology exchange in environmental monitoring and forest management — a pivotal step towards green innovation and global sustainability.
Additionally, Prof. Dr. Sawal Hamid delivered a presentation on the potential and strengths of the UKM Innovation Park ecosystem, inviting startups, industries, and international partners to participate in UKM’s dynamic and inclusive innovation landscape.
Through this collaboration, UKM reaffirms its commitment to developing a world-class innovation ecosystem that accelerates technological advancement, nurtures high-impact startups, attracts global investments, and creates sustainable value for shared prosperity.
