Happy World Leprosy Day!

World Leprosy Day on 26 January 2026 is part of an ongoing effort to raise public awareness about leprosy. This disease is caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium leprae, which can affect the skin, nerves in the hands and feet, as well as other organs such as the eyes and nose. Early diagnosis and proper treatment are crucial, as they not only help patients lead better lives but also prevent the spread of the disease.

Let us work together to raise awareness, eliminate stigma, and show support to those affected.

Sincerely,
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Roslee Rajikan and the entire team at UKM Strategic Centre
