28th November 2024 – The Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) Exchange Ceremony between the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), Universiti Malaya (UM), and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) was held at Menara Binjai, Kuala Lumpur. This collaboration aims to strengthen medical education, particularly in the field of surgery, at an international level. The event marks a significant step in expanding medical education and research collaboration among the three institutions.
Prof. Dato’ Dr. Hanafiah Harunarashid, Pro Vice-Chancellor of UKM, expressed his pride in this partnership. Also in attendance were Dato’ Dr. Azmi Baharudin, Director of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ruslinda Mustafar, and representatives from Universiti Malaya. The RCSEd delegation was also present, including Prof. Dr. Grant McIntyre, Dean, and Rt Hon H.E Ian Murray, Secretary of State for Scotland.
This initiative is expected to create new opportunities in the development of surgical education and research in Malaysia, benefiting both students and medical professionals. The UKM Faculty of Medicine extends its appreciation to all parties involved in making this collaboration a reality.
