BANGI, 10 January 2023 – Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), through Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI), has officially inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with H2 Energy Sdn Bhd to strengthen joint efforts in the field of sustainable energy.

The MoU serves as a foundational platform to propel research initiatives, specifically targeting the production of green hydrogen through the utilization of renewable energy sources.

Deputy Director of SERI, Associate Professor Dr. Norasikin Ahmad Ludin said that the collaboration signifies a commitment to principles that form the foundation of industry and educational exchange – mutual respect, benefit, cooperation, collaboration, and understanding.

“It marks a significant step forward in aligning academia with industry, fostering an environment conducive to innovation and progress.

“Our joint research and development endeavours are poised to be a catalyst for advancements within the clean and renewable energy sector, with a primary focus on solar-based green hydrogen storage,” she said.

The agreement also facilitates the on-site attachment of researchers and staff for practical research purposes. This initiative aims to provide invaluable hands-on experience, fostering a dynamic learning environment.

Dr. Norasikin added that an essential component of this collaboration is the transparent exchange of documentation and research materials.

“This exchange is expected to accelerate progress and facilitate breakthroughs in our respective fields of interest.
