Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) visits KITA, 5-8 August 2025

On August 5, 2025, KITA welcomed a 14-pax delegation from the Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY), Indonesia, for a four-day academic and intercultural exchange. Under the UNESCO Chair at KITA-UKM‘s initiative in response to rising global debates on nationalism, Islamic identity and the influence of digital media, UMY students from the Department of Islamic Communication and Broadcasting took part in a three-day workshop led by KITA Deputy Director, Prof. Dr. Kartini Aboo Talib @ Khalid and KITA Research Fellow and Manager of UNESCO Chair at KITA-UKM, Dr. Nurul Akqmie Badrul Hisham, and site visits at UKM’s Tun Seri Lanang Library (Perpustakaan Tun Seri Lanang, PTSL) and Batu Caves in Selangor. The program aligns with shared goals between Malaysia and Indonesia to foster religious diversity, media literacy and ethical communication in the digital age.

Note: KITA’s involvement in the activities mentioned herein contributes towards the following SDG(s) of the UN Sustainable Development Goals: SDG4, SDG12, and SDG17.
