Who
Tun Sri Lanang?
Tun Seri Lanang, whom we know as the great author of Johor who produced the book "Sejarah Melayu" or "Sulalatus Salatin" (1612), was born in the year 1565 AD in Bukit Seluyut, Kota Tinggi, Johor.
His real name was Tun Muhammad. His father was Orang Kaya Paduka Raja Ahmad and his mother was Tun Gengang. He came from a wealthy family or so-called because his ancestors were from the Bendahara Sri Maharaja Melaka family, leading to his majesty Mani Purindan from the Bukit Siguntang lineage. Tun Seri Lanang was appointed as the 14th Bendahara with the title Bendahara Sri Maharaja Johor in 1580, by Sultan Ala-Jalla Abdul Jalil Syah. He died in 1615 in Aceh.
