
FACULTY OF MEDICINE, UNIVERSITI KEBANGSAAN MALAYSIA HOSTS BENCHMARKING VISIT FROM LINCOLN UNIVERSITY COLLEGE
CHERAS, KUALA LUMPUR, 20th May 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), welcomed a benchmarking visit today from the Faculty of Medicine, Lincoln University College (LUC), as part of efforts to evaluate and enhance the Doctor of Medicine (MD) programme.
The visiting delegation from LUC was led by Professor Dr. Zarina Awang, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and included Professor Walid Hamwi (Deputy Dean – Clinical), Associate Professor Dr. Suriyakala (Deputy Dean – Preclinical), Associate Professor Dr. Zarihah Mohd Zain (Head of the Department of Community Medicine) and Dr. Fazna Saleem (Head of the Medical Education Unit).
UKM’s Faculty of Medicine was represented by Professor Dr. Norazlina Mohamed, Deputy Dean of Undergraduate Studies, Associate Professor Dr. Teoh Seong Lin (Assistant Dean of Quality & Strategy), Dr Mohammad Arif Kamarudin (Head of the Medical Education Department), and Mrs Raynuha Mahadevan (Head Unit Personal & Professional Advancement). The visit was also supported by the Secretariat of Undergraduate Studies.
The session served as a platform for both institutions to share insights into the structure and delivery of their respective MD programmes. Discussions focused on curriculum design, teaching and learning approaches, and assessment strategies. LUC also expressed interest in exploring future research collaborations with UKM, aiming to strengthen academic ties and foster advancements in medical education and research.
This benchmarking visit marks a positive step toward building strategic partnerships between the two faculties in the pursuit of excellence in medical training and scholarship.
