STUDENT MOBILITY PROGRAM: FIVE (5) NURSING STUDENTS FROM SHIGA UNIVERISTY OF MEDICAL SCIENCE VISIT DEPARTMENT OF NURSING, FACULTY OF MEDICINE, UKM

CHERAS, KUALA LUMPUR, 21st April 2025 – The Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), was honoured to host five Year-4 nursing students from Shiga University of Medical Science, Japan, as part of a Student Mobility Program took place from 21st April to 2nd May 2025. This initiative reflected a strong commitment to international collaborationand academic exchange in the field of nursing education.

During their stay, the students are participated in two core modules: the Pediatric Module and the Home Care Module. They attended selected classes and engaged in hands-on learning experiences that broadened their clinical knowledge and exposure. In addition to academic activities, the program included educational visits to key healthcare and academic facilities. These included the UKM Specialist Centre Gamma Knife, the Anatomy Museum, the wards at both Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) and Hospital Pakar Kanak-Kanak UKM (HPKK-UKM), the HCTM Home Care Unit, the PERMATA Kurnia Centre, and the UKM Bangi campus.

The students involved in this program were Mino Makoa, Horikawa Kiho, Hirata Rio, Takeuchi Marimo, and Shirako Karin. They also took part in a cultural performance session alongside local nursing students from the Department of Nursing, UKM. This element of the program fostered mutual understanding, appreciation of cultural diversity, and stronger interpersonal connections among students from both institutions.

The Student Mobility Program was coordinated by Ms. Sh. Nor Hezlin Syd. Tahir Jalaluddin and Ms. Nurul Asysura Musa. UKM was proud to support this meaningful exchange, which not only enhanced the students’ academic journey but also built a bridge between Malaysia and Japan through shared knowledge, experience, and friendship.
