Introduction
The Faculty of Islamic Studies (FPI) was established on May 18, 1970 along with the establishment of the National University of Malaysia (UKM). FPI is the earliest faculty established in the UKM besides the Faculty of Arts and the Faculty of Science. However the core of this faculty has been start earlier with the establishment of the Malayan Islamic College at Klang in 1955. The establishment of this faculty is a continuation of the vision and struggle of a group of Malay intellectuals who want to see an Islamic Institution existed in Malaysia.
