The purpose of the course is to provide an exposure and knowledge enhancement regarding medicolegal aspects of healthcare practices. The course contents which includes introduction to medicolegal, issues and risk in medicolegal as well as approach in handling complaints are suitable for medical and healthcare providers, as well as other healthcare professionals and administrators working directly or indirectly in the disciplines involving quality of healthcare, patient safety and clinical risk management. The course will be delivered via lectures, case discussions, and forum session.

How will the classes be conducted?

Classes will be conducted in a hybrid mode. Most sessions will be held online via Zoom, scheduled at night from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM, according to the programme timetable (not every night). Additionally, there will be one physical session at UKM, with the date and time to be announced.

Is attendance compulsory?

While attendance is not compulsory, it is highly encouraged for those intending to claim Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points, as attendance records are required for CPD certification.

Will I get access to recorded classes?

Yes. All online sessions will be recorded and made available to all registered participants. These recordings can be accessed for revision purposes, particularly useful when preparing for assignments and quizzes.

Payment method?

Two (2) types of payment:

    1. Full payment
    2. Installment payment (3 times)
What does the course assessment involve?

Assessment consists of:

    1. A written online assignment, and
    2. 25 One Best Answer (OBA) questions

The dates and times for both components will be announced later.

Is there an age limit for enrolment?

No. There is no age limit to enrol in this course.

Will I receive a certificate upon completion?

Yes. All participants who complete the course will receive a certificate issued by Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM).

Can I use the certificate to apply for a Master’s programme?

Yes, the certificate may be used to support an application to a Master’s programme. However, acceptance is subject to the terms and conditions of the respective Master’s programme provider. UKM has no involvement in the application or admission process of other institutions.

What are the career opportunities after completing this course?

This program is open to Malaysian citizens and non-citizens. Detailed admission requirements are as follows:

    • Possess at least academic qualification at the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) level AND have a minimum of 5 years of working experience in a related field.
    • OR
      Possess an academic qualification at the Diploma level with a minimum of 3 years of working experience in a related field, or a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.

Is this course claimable under HRD Corp?

Yes, this course is claimable under HRD Corp (Human Resource Development Corporation, formerly HRDF), provided that your employer is registered and contributing to HRD Corp.

Who is eligible to claim?

Eligibility:

    • Employees of organisations that are HRD Corp registered and actively contributing.
    • The claim must be applied through the employer, not the individual participant.
    • The employer must have an active account in the HRD Corp system (eTRIS).
How is the process?

Process:

    1. Before the course begins – The employer applies for the training grant via the HRD Corp portal (eTRIS). Application must be submitted before the course commencement date. Required documents for grant application:
      • Course proposal / programme outline
      • Detailed training schedule (with training method specified)
      • Course quotation (Sebutharga kursus)
      • Trainer’s profile / CV
      • Supporting documents requested by HRD Corp (e.g., sample certificate of participation, accreditation letter, approval memo, etc.)
    2. During the course – Employees can attend the course without having to pay upfront, as the employer covers the course fees. – Employees can attend the course without having to pay upfront, as the employer covers the course fees.
    3. After the course is completed – The employer submits the following documents for reimbursement from HRD Corp:
      • Attendance list
      • Final invoice
      • HRD TEE (Training Effectiveness Evaluation) form completed by participants
