CITRA 3 – Quantitative & Qualitative Reasoning
One of the focuses of Malaysia’s educational philosophy is to further develop individual potential in a comprehensive and integrated manner to create intellectually balanced and harmonious people. To produce intellectually minded graduates, the ability to reason has been identified as an important characteristic. Reasoning means making judgments based on the facts and context of a situation. Facts are obtained through data obtained through qualitative or quantitative investigation methods, or using techniques in mathematics and statistics, while the context includes aspects of the ecosystem involved in a situation such as value and belief systems, assumptions, emotions, personality and so on. This Citra includes knowledge related to research methods, mathematics and statistics, critical thinking and decision-making. The aim of this Citra is to guide students in reasoning using empirical evidence (qualitative and quantitative) by using the principles of scientific research, mathematics, statistics and decision-making principles based on the contextual aspects of society. What is meant by contextual is to take into account important aspects such as value and belief systems, assumptions, control over decisions, and the organization’s founding philosophy.
