PharmUpdate : 2nd University Kebangsaan Malaysia – Mahidol University Joint Scientific Conference 1

Under the main theme of :“Advancing Pharmacy for ASEAN Community’’, MUPY (Faculty of Pharmacy, Mahidol University) hosted the 7th Indochina Conference on Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharma Indochina VII)  in conjunction with the 2nd University Kebangsaan Malaysia – Mahidol University Joint Scientific Conference. Besides Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, this conference was also participated by two other universities which are the Faculty of Pharmacy, Ho Chi Minh City University of Medicine & Pharmacy and Hanoi University of Pharmacy. With the topic ‘Pharmaceutics and drug delivery system’, this year we saw a total of more than 300 lecturers, students, and scholars from various countries taking part in the two-day event including the lecturers, students  and scholars from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia.

The conference focused on recent advances in all disciplines of pharmaceutical sciences and pharmacy practice and also the impact of the establishment of ASEAN Economic Community on ASEAN pharmacy circle. Among the activities organized in the conference were talks, open discussion and forums by top leaders both in science and practice aspects of pharmacy, oral and poster presentations and also cultural performances.

Representatives from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia have received awards in the category of pharmaceutics and drug delivery system. Dr. Shiow-Fern Ng had won the best oral presentation award while both Dr Haliza Katas and Attique ur Rahman Mufti had won the best poster presentation award.
