PharmUpdate : Journalism Workshop

It was the time to learn something new out of the syllabus. Well, this was the very first time Pharmaline 2012/2013 organized “Journalism Workshop” in collaboration with Persatuan Mahasiswa Fakulti Farmasi (PMFFar).

Ms. Malar Subramaniam who is the editorial manager of UBM Medica shared her precious working experience with students and the pros and cons of being an editor. In her talk, she emphasised the importance of communication, which is to give the right information to the right audience at the right time. Realising the importance of communication, she sincerely hoped that students could improve their communication skills as it would help them a lot in their future.

Mr. Teh Eng Hock from Star Publications (M) Bhd. gave his talk regarding “Effective Writing Strategies” as well as ways to carry out an interview. He mentioned that students should not be shy during the interview. “Perseverance is the key to reporting an interesting article,” said Mr. Teh as he shared his countless experience interviewing people from different walks of life with us.

Many new and thumbs up Internet applications had been introduced by Dr. Ng Shiow Fern who is the e-Learning Coordinator from the Faculty of Pharmacy, UKM Campus KL. She too mentioned that time is essential for a person to learn and update oneself with the vast applications available now.

Lastly, Dr. Mohd Makmor Bakry , Ketua JIM, Faculty of Pharmacy, UKM carried out the Photography session which grabbed the students’ attention. He shared his masterpieces with students and they were totally amazed by his photography skills. He also gave some photography advice to the students. All in all, students really got a great deal of benefits through this workshop.
