PharmUpdate : Run To GAIN 2013 Charity Run

By Puah Shu Ting

27 April 2013 – “The meaning of life to the giver and receiver” was the theme of this event. It had drawn a hundred of participants including outsiders to KTSN on that beautiful morning. They were not only here to run, but also to make some charitable contributions which come in the form of RM20 registration fee to the benefited organizations namely Peyakin Klang and Pusat Jagaan Kanak-kanak Kurang Upaya KIRTASH(no as well).

A fun and energetic aerobic session conducted by En. Azam gave a warm starting for the event. As Prof. Dr. Ibrahim bin Jantan, the Dekan of Pharmacy Faculty initiated the run, the anticipated participants of all ages, together with some of the Thailand exchange programme students, jogged off to conquer the 5km route for male and 2.5km for female.

Ainur, an 11-year-old kid from Seremban, beat other teenagers and adults along the run and became the champion of the race! Her elder brother, however, did not manage to overtake the male winner, Abdul Aziz, who came on behalf of KWSP. Being at the age of 60s, Mrs. Beh, the female 1st runner up, and her husband had joined charity runs all over the state, winning medals for 7 years! “Previously we joined a run in Nottingham. The next will be at UPM in Serdang. We love to support charity activities organized by students like you all,” said Mrs Beh with a wide smile.

Since “Run To GAIN” was the last sub-programme of GAIN, Dr. Malina Jasamai, who had also joined the run herself, gave a pleasant closing to GAIN which was organized by the first-year undergraduates of Pharmacy Faculty.
