JSBAS Sharing Session Series 3/ 2025
15 July 2025 — The Department of Earth Sciences and Environment (JSBAS), Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), successfully conducted its JSBAS Sharing Session Series 3/2025 today. The seminar, held from 2.00 to 4.00 PM at the Geology Meeting Room, featured an esteemed international guest speaker, Prof. Dr. C.T. Aravindakumar, Vice-Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi University, India.
Titled “Addressing Emerging Environmental Contaminants: Detection Technologies and Remediation Approaches,” the session offered valuable insights into current environmental challenges. Prof. Aravindakumar, who also serves as Senior Professor at the School of Environmental Sciences and Director of the International Centre for Polar Studies, shared cutting-edge approaches to identifying and mitigating emerging contaminants in the environment.
The seminar was conducted in person and attended by academics, researchers, and students from across the Faculty. The session fostered meaningful dialogue around sustainable practices, with strong alignment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) — particularly Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities and Goal 15: Life on Land.
