Discussion on the Findings of the KITA-UKM Study on the Role of Christian Community in Fostering Community Cohesion through Socio-Economic Development in Sabah

The Department of National Unity & Integration (JPNIN) commissioned a study on the role of Christians in addressing social needs in Sabah. This study was undertaken by Datuk Dr. Denison Jayasooria (Principal Research Fellow, KITA-UKM) between May 2016 and March 2018. The objective was to identify the social work and community projects being undertaken by Christians and the Churches in Sabah. A variety of research methods were employed including organisational and individual questionnaires, field visits, focus group discussion and workshops.
The discussion proposed on March 23, 2018 is to share the findings especially the critical concerns, innovative interventions and to draw out specific recommendations and policy implications for the Churches in Sabah as well as for public policy response.
Datuk Dr. Denison Jayasooria the lead researcher assisted by Mr James Raj will make a presentation followed by discussion to receive feedback and further comments. This is an open invitation to all to participate and be enriched by this discussion.
