UKM Vice-Chancellor Awarded Civil Defence Service Medal

BANGI, April 28, 2016 – Vice Chancellor of the National University of Malaysia (UKM), Prof Datuk Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali was awarded the Pingat Bakti Pertahanan Awam (PBP), or Civil Defence Service Medal in an investiture ceremony in conjunction with the 64th Anniversary of the Civil Defence Department, in Perlis recently.
He is also a Commander of the Students Civil defence Corp at UKM (SISPA), with a rank of Honorary Assistant Commissioner.
The SISPA Corp was raised at UKM in 2012 and has since produced 117 accredited SISPA Cadet Officers.
Prof Noor Azlan expressed thanks for the conferment, which he said was in line with the UKM Key Result Areas (KRA) number 3, which is Smart Partnership and Strategic Engagement.
The Director-General of the Civil Defence Department, Datuk Ogu Salim Omar presented awards to 105 people.
Also present at the ceremony were the SISPA Corp commanders of other universities, representatives of government agencies and civil defence officials.
