BANGI, 19 April 2017 – UKM must be prepared to face changes by being innovative, as an initiative to be one of the world’s renowned institution of higher learning, said UKM Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali.

For instance, he said, if currently students are not allowed to bring their smartphones into the examination hall, to prevent them from cheating, academicians should start thinking of other ways which can prevent them from doing so.

“I would not blame the students if they can find the answer to their exam questions via their phone, but I will blame the lecturers who prepared the examination questions because they prepared questions with answers which can be easily searched via their mobile,” he said at the UKM Geraknovasi Convention Project, recently.

He said it is the time to UKM community think of innovation that can overcome the problem.

“We don’t only need academicians to make the innovation, but Management and Professional staff and operations staff are also encouraged to innovate,” he said.

Prof Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Azlan said should there be any staff who creates an innovation, other staff must respect it.

“When someone gives an idea for an innovation, please don’t turn it down. Instead, work together and contribute ideas to make the innovation a success,” he said.
