Bachelor of Science Architecture with Honours
PROGRAMME SUMMARY
Architecture is the art and science of designing buildings and other physical structures that is primarily driven by creativity and practicality, in order to achieve an end which is aesthetic, functional and often artistic. Architects in Malaysia are required to have a certain level of academic qualification which include a fully accredited Bachelor’s degree in architectural studies. The undergraduate programme offered here is known as Bachelor of Science in Architecture with Honours. It is a semi-professional degree that is fully recognised by Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM) and is equivalent to the Part I Examination for the Professional Architect Qualification. The programme comprises courses such as design studio, history and theory of architecture, environmental science, building structures, building services, architectural communication, building technology and materials. The programme is oriented towards the design studio course, which is the core for the programme.
Programme Requirements
Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) APEL.A Certification Level 6 of the Malaysian Qualifications Framework (MQF);
and
Obtained at least a Band 2.0 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET) for exams beginning in session 1 of 2021 OR a Band 2 for exams up to the year of 2020, depending on the validity period at the time of application;
and
Pass the exam or interview that the faculty has set up.

Applications for full time study programmes (STPM, Matriculation, STAM and Diploma/ Equivalent) must be submitted via Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education Online Application. Applications for studies in all the programmes offered are published in local newspapers between the month of January to April every year.

Non-citizen and international student candidates who are interested in enrolling for the full time study programmes must submit their applications via UKM online application opened in February to May every year.

Life at Faculty
In UKM, students will be exposed to exciting opportunities to expand their learning experience especially through their studio-based projects. Learning in a tight-knit studio environment, students will be able to work closely with faculty members and make meaningful connections with their peers on a daily basis. Design studio often involves learning and experiencing activities outside the faculty that includes engaging with various communities of different backgrounds and visits to various cities, villages, buildings, construction sites, historical and cultural sites, architecture firms and possibly even to the jungle. Students are trained throughout the learning process to be versatile, able to think on their feet, and ready to take up responsibilities.
