13 PhD Students Share Research Findings

BANGI, 8 May 2017 – 13 UKM PhD were selected to present their research findings at an academic sharing session, UKM Postgraduate Programme Talk 2017, recently.

Programme Chairman Nasharuddin Zainal said only students who have passed their proposal defence and conduct research which is clearly beneficial for the society, were considered to be part of the UKM Postgraduate Programme Talk.

“Besides that, research findings must be sustainable and have the potential to be further modified and developed and possess commercial value,” he said.

Meanwhile, UKM Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic and International Affairs, Prof Dato’ Ir Dr Riza Atiq Abdullah OK Rahmat in his speech outlined Seven Prime Educational Challenges and one of them is to consolidate Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

“The strengthening of STEM is important to ensure that the knowledge and theories learned can be applied to solve problems in the real world, especially for students who are conducting research,” he said.

The presentation began with a representative from the Faculty of Pharmacy and followed by representatives from the Institute of Visual Informatics, Faculty of Economics and Management, Faculty of Education, Solar Energy Institute Research, Institute of Malaysia and International Studies and also the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment.
