Good Governance Key to Sustainable Institution

BANGI, 12 October 2016 – Good governance is key to build sustainable institutions, said the Chancellor of the National University of Malaysia (UKM), DYMM Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir.

“I believe, when one holds on to his values and integrity, it will create good governance.

“It will also ensure that an institution remain strong and steadfast throughout some difficult phase it may face,” he said at the Chancellor Tuanku Muhriz Lecture at UKM, recently.

He added that private institutions are also responsible to ensure the practice of good governance as they are part of a network that forms a nation.

The Chancellor Tuanku Muhriz Lecture, which was held for the first time, was delivered by former Bank Negara Governor Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz with the title: Building Sustainable Institutions: Good Governance Matters”.

Tuanku Muhriz, who is the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, hopes that the first lecture series will continue to enrich the corpus of knowledge and would benefit the public through a broad partnership between leaders and renowned scholars.

Also present at the lecture were DYMM Tuanku Ampuan Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Utama Mohamad Hassan.ukmnewsportal-eg
