Healthcare and Medical Field will Continue to Evolve – Dr Joshi

BANGI, 31 March 2017 – The future of healthcare and medical field will undergo major changes, continue to grow and will be different from what it currently is.

President and Managing Director of Malaysia and Brunei Novartis, Dr Joshi Venugopal said the evolution will occur due to technological advances and changes in human data intelligence.

He said the technology in the future, such as wearables and real time monitoring will make it easier for patients to identify any symptoms of illness.

“Maybe in the future, you can just put a sensor on your body and a doctor can diagnose you even though he’s far away.

“That is one of the advantages of technology in medicine,” he said.

In his speech, entitled Health: Past, Present and Future, he also advised UKM’s students to become ambitious and to think critically because it is one of the main qualities that graduates should have.

A total of seven students from the Faculty of Pharmacy, UKM was presented with the opportunity to meet with Dr Joshi Venugopal, in a special session.

Also present at the programme were UKM Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Industry and Community Partnership, Prof Dato’ Dr Imran Ho Abdullah and Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Assoc. Prof.  Dr Jamia Azdina Jamal.
