INBIOSIS UKM Receives MS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 Certification

BANGI, 8 August 2016 – The National University of Malaysia’s Institute of Biology System (INBIOSIS) added another feather to its cap when it was awarded the MS ISO/IEC 17025:2005 certificate through the Skim Akreditasi Makmal Malaysia (SAMM), recently.

The certificate was awarded for Work Procedure and Method of Sample Testing of the GC-MS INBIOSIS, a machine acquired from the fund obtained by Research Instruments Development (PIP) and the Centre for Research Instrumentation Management (CRIM) in 2010.

UKM Deputy Vice Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Prof Dato’ Dr Mazlin Mokhtar said the quality of innovation in UKM should be increased at all levels including laboratories services.

“Good management, professionalism and being in accordance with international standards needs are some good ways to ensure the efficiency of one lab.

“This is critical factor in order for UKM to stay competitive in the academia,” he said .

In light of that, UKM, he added, aims to increase the number of accredited laboratories.

 “Laboratories that are equipped with sophisticated machines and handled by trained staff, I believe, will help the university produce more scientists and experts in various disciplines,” he said.
