PERKEM 2016 Good Platform to Discuss Economic Issues – Irwan Serigar

PUTRAJAYA, 27 July 2016 – Government officers are urged to be aware of current issues related to our country in order to ensure the stability and continuous growth of Malaysia’s economy, said Ministry of Finance Secretary General Tan Sri Dr. Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah

Tan Sri Dr Mohd Irwan was speaking at the 11th Malaysia Economic National Conference (PERKEM) 2016, organized by the National University of Malaysia’s Faculty of Economy and Management (FEP), recently.

PERKEM 2016, he said, is a good platform to disseminate information, explore issues and suggest new initiatives that the government can consider, in facing the economic challenge.

With the theme Sustainable Public Policy, Economic Resilience and Universal Well-Being, he added that, the conference can not only function as a platform to share knowledge, it is also a venue to create innovation and to generate high impact research in order to support the preparation of the 2017 budget.

Earlier, UKM Vice Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Noor Azlan during his welcoming speech said that UKM is committed to play its part in producing human capital with excellent values and integrity to support the country’s stability and growth.

The two-day conference involved 150 participants from both UKM and public. Two dialogue sessions, as well as paper presentations were conducted with the involvement of experts from the government agencies and private sectors.

Also present at the conference were FEP Dean, Prof Dr Norman Mohd Salleh and The Chairman of PERKEM, Associate Professor Dr Zulkefly Abdul Karim.ukmnewsportal-eg
