PIDD 2016 Focused on Sustainable Economic Development

IPOH, 27 September 2016 – The Pangkor International Development Dialogue (PIDD) 2016, which was recently held, focused on sustainable economic growth in ensuring a resilient economic development.

UKM Vice-Chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali said PIDD  has been established as a platform to discuss issues pertaining to nation development amongst policy makers, researchers and stakeholder.

“Among the issues discussed were resilient economic growth and sustainable economic development.

“This simply means that economic growth must benefit the community,” he said at the PIDD Opening Ceremony in Perak, recently.

Organised by the Perak State Government, this is the fourth time PIDD was held, and the second time UKM and Darul RIdzuan Institute were appointed as the strategic partner.

Meanwhile, Faculty of Economic and Management Dean, Prof Dr Norman Mohd Saleh said not only does UKM help IDR to organize the dialogue, the university also had the opportunity to network and create new opportunities.

Some 100 speakers from almost 20 countries including India, Bangladesh, Japan, China, Thailand, Philippines, Sweden and Middle East participated in this dialogue.
