Raising The Bar at UKM-GSB To Produce Quality Graduates

BANGI, 6 August 2015 – The Graduate School of Business, the National University of Malaysia (UKM-GSB) always makes improvements to it study programmes to continuously raise the standards of its graduates and meet the requirements of the market.

Its Dean, Assoc Prof Dr Mohd Zaher Mohd Zain said the upgrading of the academic programme, especially the Master in Business Administration (MBA) is relevant to the requirements of the market and industries.

“Now the MBA programme has an advantages such as fulfilling the requirements of the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA). We also take the example from the best institutions in Europe, in lock-step and modules and the courses offered  commensurate with them and the students only have one year to finish their study,” he said at Academic Preview Programme and Aidilfitri Celebrations, here on August 5, 2015.

Dr Mohd Zaher said for the part-time programme, the student only needs to attend lectures twice a month at weekends and they can finish their study in two years.

“Besides that, we also make improvements by requiring students to follow the leadership module, project management and hands-on learning in and outside the lecture class,” he clarified.

Dr Mohd Zaher said UKM-GSB is the only post-graduate centre which has  cooperation with top banking institutions in Malaysia such as CIMB Bank, RHB Bank, Maybank, Bank Islam and Bank Rakyat.

“Besides that, we are also working with the Public Service Department of Malaysia (JPA), National Institute of Public Administration (Intan) and Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN) to improve teaching and learning of the MBA programme in public management and taxation,” he explained.

The post-graduate programme which are offered by the UKM-GSB are Management, Finance, Islamic Finance and Banking, Healthcare Management, Tax Management, Marketing, Public Management and Higher EducationManagement.

He expressed hope that the improvements will produce graduates that meet the needs of the industry, confident, capable of leading, brave and responsible.ukmnewsportal-eg
