UKM, first University as a Digital Kampus

Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) becomes the first university as a digital campus when big telecommunication company, Maxis Berhad offered the wifi service at the whole main campus and branch.
 
Vice-Chancellor, Prof Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Noor Azlan Ghazali said the existing on digital campus mean UKM produce the digital citizen who has different characteristic with other citizen before.
 
“Besides students, the entire staff of the University will use the facility in the smooth implementation of activities such as research, teaching and learning, as well as a network of community and industry,” he said at the Ceremony of Signing of Memorandum of Agreement between UKM and Maxis Berhad.
 
He said in 4th industrial revolution (4IR), many things are already experiencing a digital process and higher education is no exception.
 
So, with received this opportunity, we will explore new knowledge and UKM produce competitive talents.  It’s also in line with wishes delivered by Minister of Higher Education, Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh in New Year Mandate 2018, who would like to see the institution ready to face 4.0 education with an emphasis on three key elements, namely knowledge, industry and humanity, he said.
 
Meanwhile, Head of Maxis Enterprise Product, Shanti Jusnita Johari said Maxis realise that education is critical sector, which is access to communication and advance technology can play an important role towards an excellent.
 
“A three-year collaboration that also includes student development initiatives such as training opportunities with Maxis, entrepreneurial programmes, student leadership and other programmes talk,” she said.
 
She said the selected UKM bus who using the routes of UKM campus in Bangi will also be equipped with the wifi facilities to ensure students are always able to connect to the internet while travelling.
 
Also present for the ceremony is Chaiman of Maxis Berhad, Raja Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Arshad Raja Tun Uda and Deputy Vice Chancellor Students and Alumni Affairs, Prof Dato’ Noor Aziah Mohd Awal.
