BANGI, July 12, 2016 – The National University of Malaysia (UKM) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Malaysian Green Building Confederation (MGBC) and AJIA Berhad (AJIA) to design and develop environmentally friendly buildings in the campus.

UKM Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Research and Innovation, Prof Dato’ Dr Mazlin Mokhtar said the green building is an innovation aimed to help tackle the sustainability issues faced due to economic growth and the increase of population such as endangered flora and fauna and the adverse effects to nature.

“This MoU also marks the opening of a new chapter for a tripartite partnership between the university, non-governmental organisation and the industry,” he said at the MoU Signing Ceremony here recently.

He said this collaboration will also witness UKM’s Solar Energy Research Institute (SERI) taking the lead in research related to Green Building technology.

He added that the building will be an example of how technology can be utilised to ensure a sustainable environment.ukmnewsportal-eg
