UKM Student Crowned as a Best Debater in 2016 Student Parliament

BANGI, July 28, 2016 – Zainal Asnawi Asyraf did the National University of Malaysia (UKM) proud when he was crowned as the Best Debater in the 2016 Student Parliament, recently.

Zainal, who is the Speaker of UKM’s Student Representative Council, defeated 120 student leaders from 26 Public and Private University in the 2016 Student Parliament which was held for three days, beginning July 26, at Parliament Malaysia.

A third year student from the Faculty of Law, Zainal presented a proposal titled ‘Students Role in Preventing Extremism’.

The victory will enable him to go for a three day Leadership Training at Oxford University. He also received RM1,000 in cash, books and plaque from Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak.

Meanwhile, Head of Student and Alumni Affairs (HEPA), Najwa Ahmad Zawawi said Zainal’s talents was first discovered when he represented his college in a debate competition
