- Independent and certified public health physician (Malaysian) OR has completed a recognized public health specialist training (for overseas candidate), with interest in a subspecialty area of occupational health.
- Applicants who have completed attachment in any facilities that cover the 5 domains of public health, is highly encouraged OR has work experience in public health for a minimum of 3 years. Applicants are required to submit current CV with two referees. Applicants are also required to submit a good standing letter from the employer/institution, for the program application.
- Non-Malaysians are required to apply for Temporary Practising Certificate by the Malaysian Medical Council.
By the end of the program, the candidate should be able to:
- Integrate all of the occupational health physician roles in providing optimal, ethical and worker-centred care in a focus subspecialty area of occupational health.
- Apply knowledge of the clinical, socio-behavioural, and fundamental public health relevant to occupational health research and services in the focus subspecialty area of occupational health.
- Perform appropriate assessment and management of at-risk workers in the focus subspecialty area of occupational health.
- Participate effectively and appropriately in a multidisciplinary occupational health service team and communicate effectively with the workplace parties and government agencies.
- Exhibit leadership skills, team work, caring, effective communication and professionalisme in the work place.
- Plan and conduct occupational health programme in a focus area to an identified population of workers.
- Perform appropriate health assessment of workers following health hazard exposure relevant to the focus area.
- Plan a return to work (RTW) programme with the considerations of medical, psychological and social factors that may influence recovery and safe RTW relevant to the focus area.
- Proposed and conduct studies in a focus area of occupational health.
- Collaborate with government agencies, occupational health service practitioners, employers and workers in the activities where relevant.
- Record experience activities in the fellowship customised logbook.
- Applicants are required to submit a current CV with two named referees.
- Applicants are also required to submit a good standing letter from the employer/institution, for the program application.
- Applications must be submitted at least six months from the intended start date.
- Overseas candidates (non-Malaysian) are required to apply for a Temporary Practising Certificate by the Malaysian Medical Council at their cost.
