CLINICAL FELLOWSHIP IN PUBLIC HEALTH AND NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES

- Independent and Certified Public Health Physician OR has completed recognized public health specialist training (for overseas candidates) with a strong interest in Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs).
- Malaysian candidates: Applicants who have completed an attachment or rotation in facilities managing core areas of NCD care and prevention (e.g., cardiovascular, diabetes, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases, renal diseases) are highly encouraged and will be prioritised.
- Non-Malaysian candidates: Applicants with at least 3 years working experience managing NCD-related clinical or public health programs after specialist training.
- Required to submit a current curriculum vitae (CV) including two referees.
- Required to submit a letter of standing or support from the current employer or institution for the programme application.
By the end of the programme, the candidate should be able to:
- Assess population health needs related to NCDs and contribute to developing and implementing multidisciplinary promotional and intervention programs.
- Design and execute programs that meet international standards, promote equitable public health policies, and use appropriate technologies for NCD prevention and management.
- Apply evidence-based decision-making, critical thinking, and lifelong learning in NCD practice.
- Demonstrate effective communication, professionalism, leadership, and cultural sensitivity in NCD care.
- Plan and evaluate a participatory action research project focused on priority interventions for non-communicable diseases, collaborating with multidisciplinary professionals and relevant agencies.
- Actively participate in supervision training, scientific seminar discussions, and journal appraisals within the department.
- Monitor and evaluate intervention programmes using population health outcomes as key indicators related to NCDs.
- Record all fellowship-related activities and experiences in a student-led customised logbook.
- Schedule regular meetings with the assigned supervisor throughout the fellowship programme for ongoing progress monitoring and feedback.
- Publish at least one technical report, policy paper, or research article accepted in a Web of Science (WOS)-indexed journal.
Certificate of completion of training certified by Course Director and Dean, Faculty of Medicine UKM will be given to all successful candidates.
- Applicants are required to submit a current CV with two named referees.
- Applicants are also required to submit a good standing letter from the employer/institution, for the program application.
- Applications must be submitted at least six months from the intended start date.
- Overseas candidates (non-Malaysian) are required to apply for a Temporary Practising Certificate by the Malaysian Medical Council at their cost.
