FELLOWSHIP IN DERMATOLOGY (UKM)

Independent and Certified Internal Phycisian with interest in Dermatology

  1. Competency in diagnosing, investigating and treating common dermatological diseases.
  2. Ability to recognize complex diseases and instituting initial management.
  3. Demonstrate critical thinking, self-directed life-long learning and evidence-based clinical management.
  4. Effective communication, professionalism, leadership and sensitivity towards ethical, religious and cultural values.
  1. Active participation in clinical activities including inpatient and outpatient care, dermatology emergency and laboratory services.
  2. Active participation in the unit’s educational activities including CME, Dermatatopathology, Grand ward round and Case based discussion.
  3. Record experiences in performing procedures / tests, teaching/learning activities, research, publication and other activities in a log book.
  4. Scheduled meetings with the supervisor throughout the duration of the fellowship for progress monitoring.
  5. Publish at least 1 manuscript in a journal.  
  6. Passed a MCQ examination at mid-term, OSCE and viva examinations at the end of the programme.
  1. Please apply at least 6 months before intended start date.
  2. You will need Temporary Practising Certificate (TPC) by Malaysian Medical Council (MMC). Please ensure you fulfil all the requirements for TPC. https://mmc.gov.my/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/TPC_July_2019_2.pdf
  3. Application for TPC will be forwarded to MMC by UKM except for Letter of Good Standing.

Flowchart of Credentialing and Privileging in HCTM for International Candidates

DEFINITION

Credentialing: a process to set the standards and to do an evaluation for a person’s qualification in a field or procedure. It is recognition for the professional training done by a medical practitioner.

Privileges: the rights given by the hospital for a medical practitioner to give treatments or to do procedures on hospital patients based on the qualifications of the training, and the medical practitioner’s experience and expertise.
