Mini Biography

Associate Professor Dr Norasyikin A. Wahab is a Clinical Physician and Consultant Endocrinologist at UKM Medical Centre. She is currently the head of endocrinology, UKMMC. She also vetting committee 3rd year, medical department, and evaluation committee for the medication department and serves as a lecturer for dental student and Diabetic nurse educator course, and also as an examiner.

She is actively involved in the field of endocrinology and diabetes. She is a member of obesity management clinical practice guideline (CPG), update T2DM CPG, diabetic in pregnancy guideline, diabetes management in Ramadan practice guideline programs and reviewer for thyroid CPG. She has been appointed as visiting Consultant Endocrinologist at the National Heart Institute since 2014.

Apart from clinical practice, teaching and administrative duties, she is also actively involved in research mainly in the field of diabetes and adrenal in UKMMC. She also did the collaboration with other universities such as UPM, USIM or Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia and also an international multicentre clinical trial The endocrine unit trains national (KKM and universities) dan international fellows for the endocrine subspecialty program

DEFINITION

Credentialing: a process to set the standards and to do an evaluation for a person’s qualification in a field or procedure. It is recognition for the professional training done by a medical practitioner.

Privileges: the rights given by the hospital for a medical practitioner to give treatments or to do procedures on hospital patients based on the qualifications of the training, and the medical practitioner’s experience and expertise.
