Assoc. Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Hisam is an orthopaedic surgeon with focus on Spine, Minimal Invasive and Scoliosis Surgery and is Credentialed and Privileged in Spine Surgery at UKM Medical Centre. He holds a Bachelor of Medicine with first class honour in Bachelor of Surgery at Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, India and a Masters of Orthopaedic Surgery from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Devoted to sustainability in his excellences services and work results, he has been invited as speaker, cadaveric demonstrations and numerous live surgery demonstration in paediatric, adult deformity and minimally invasive spine surgery techniques where he has shared his expertise at both national and international
events. Dato’ Dr. Mohd Hisam has been honoured with many awards, among them are the Excellence Services Award and also he has won himself the Manokaran Book Award for best orthopaedic trainee.
He is also the International Consultant for Chinese Spinal Microsurgery Society, Education Officer of AOSpine East Asia, Faculty member of AOSpine Asia Pacific, Key Opinion Leader for Zeiss, Aesculap Academy and Medtronics International member of Malaysia Orthopaedic Association and Exco member of Malaysia Spine Society.

DEFINITION

Credentialing: a process to set the standards and to do an evaluation for a person’s qualification in a field or procedure. It is recognition for the professional training done by a medical practitioner.

Privileges: the rights given by the hospital for a medical practitioner to give treatments or to do procedures on hospital patients based on the qualifications of the training, and the medical practitioner’s experience and expertise.
