UMBI participation in the International Digestive Disease Forum (IDDF) 2018

The International Digestive Disease Forum (IDDF) is an annual scientific meeting for clinicians and scientists working in the field of digestive diseases. For the year 2018, the event was organized at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on 9-10 June, with the theme: “Captivating Science, Inspiring Minds”.

Six of us attended the recent IDDF to obtain updates about gut microbiome research and to present our research findings to the forum participants. Four abstracts (Puteri Intan Hafizah et al., Muhammad Afiq et al., Ryia Illani et al. and Nurul Syakima et al. were awarded the IDDF Travel Grant, while the abstract by Siok-Fong Chin  et al. was shortlisted for the IDDF 2018 Young Investigator Award.

All abstracts are published in Gut, Volume 67 (Suppl 2):

Lectures of particular interest to our research team were the ones about recent developments in gut microbiome research, where we had the opportunity to listen to talks from renowned scientists working in the field. The forum broadened our perspectives on the importance of gut microbiome towards diseases, and also gave us ideas for future research in this area.
