ACTION LEARNING

This eight credit-hours programme is consisted of three components;

Research Methodology (2 credits)

This course in research methodology provides a systematic way to solve a problem by studying and understanding the research techniques. Essentially, it is the process used to collect information and data or the procedures by which researches go about for the purpose of making business decisions.  It is also defined as the study of methods by which knowledge is gained with the aims to include a consideration of the concepts and theories which underlie the methods. Students will be exposed to various methods in addressing the research questions and/or hypotheses with special focus on the descriptive and causal, sampling and measurements, data analysis and interpretation, and report writing. Students will learn how to write research proposal, conduct the research and apply the result to business situation.

Project Management (2 credits)

This course introduces students to concepts, methods and techniques in project management. Project management is basically the application of processes, methods, knowledge, skills and experience to achieve the project objectives. It is a methodical approach to planning and guiding project processes from start to finish. These processes are guided through several stages undertaken to achieve planned objectives, which could be defined in terms of outputs, outcomes or benefits. Proper techniques and best practises will be taught to students for the projects to be expertly managed to deliver the on-time, on-budget results, learning and integration that organizations need. Project management is essentially the application of knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques to project activities in meeting project requirements.

MBA Projects (4 credits)

The MBA projects are actual or real projects undertaken by students as part of their practical learning experiences. Our projects mainly focus on those that provide maximum social benefits following the concept of social business and entrepreneurship. One of our projects is the Poverty Alleviation through Entrepreneurship Programme called ALIPH (Asnaf Life Improvement and Personal enHancement) programme. ALIPH is a practical project in collaboration with private sectors and government agencies where students will have important roles in managing and ensuring successful implementation of the project. Several other innovative projects within the framework of social businesses are also available for students’ participations.
