Theme: Bringing Pharmacists into Your Healthy Living

Venue: AEON Wellness Pharmacy, Aeon AU2, Setiawangsa

The annual event was held by the PMFFar and this time, UKM’s future pharmacists were brought to the Aeon AU2, Setiawangsa. With the mission of raising the awareness of the public towards their health and closing the gap between the pharmacy students and the community, this event also provide the opportunity for the students to apply and share their knowledge to the public. The event kick-started with the opening ceremony launched by Prof. Dr. Mohd. Cairul Iqbal Mohd Amin, the Deputy Dean of Graduates, Research & Innovation, and Encik Shaiful Bahari, the manager of Aeon Wellness Pharmacy.

Ooi Jong Joo, the president of the event, mentioned in his speech that the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy are honoured to hold such meaningful event as they are given the chance to learn and practice their knowledge and contribute to the community.

“The theme of Bringing Pharmacist into Your Healthy Living signifies the importance of the involvement of the pharmacist in enhancing the quality of life, especially in the aspect of health,” he remarked.

Many health-related exhibitions were set up for the public display in the pharmacy such as the ones concerning hypertension, diabetes, obesity, smoking cessation, erectile dysfunction, asthma and vaccination. Students played their roles by giving health checkups, explaining the exhibition to the public and giving health counseling. There were also demonstration on emulsion compounding and the use of pessary and suppository. Besides exhibitions, the event offers fun and educational activities such as colouring competition for children and station games.

 The event was a success as there was huge crowd throughout the event. At the end of the day, the organizing committees were very appreciative for the support given by the general public towards the event. This event has created a strong impact in terms of raising awareness in health issues as well as the role of pharmacist among the public which could benefit them greatly.
