HEJIM provides a focal point for initiatives that develop strategic university-industry-community partnerships that can enhance and support FST’s research, education, and services. Below are some of the activities we are/were involved in.
UMT
Public Lecture by Prof. Dr. Sebastian Krastel, Christian-Albrechts-University zu Kiel, Germany, entitled ‘Bridging Research Gaps in Marine Geophysics Across Southeast Asia,’ and a roundtable discussion.
The discussion covers networking between universities in Malaysia and industries involved in marine environment research.
YAYASAN FOOD BANK MALAYSIA
Further discussion regarding the collaboration with the Center for Modeling and Analysis (DELTA) in analyzing community data from the Food Bank Malaysia Foundation for the purpose of sustainable development in SDG1 (No Poverty) and SDG2 (Zero Hunger) through the signing of an MoU.
MERDEKA EXPEDITION 66
FST, together with the Food Bank Malaysia Foundation (YFBM), successfully organized the Merdeka 66 Community Expedition Program in Royal Belum, Gerik, Perak.
The program aims to provide relief and distribute dry food assistance to the indigenous people of the Jahai tribe living in the villages of Tiang River, Klewang River, Kejar River, and Tan Hain River.

A meeting with Mr. Mohd Hussin Abd Salam, Manager of the Business and Marketing Division at NIOSH, was held to further discuss the safety passport in order to enhance the employability of graduates (GE)

Discussion with Uzma Group regarding potential research funding and CSR programs. Representatives from Uzma Group, Mr. Andrew Holmes and Mr. Ahmad Badran Saman, attended the meeting.
TAKAFUL IKHLAS
Discussion with Takaful Ikhlas regarding the Tube Well Project at Hj Omar Tahir National School in Sungai Petani, Kedah. A sponsorship of RM200k for follow-up funding after the completion of Project 1 at Kota Bharu Polytechnic.
LENNGONG GEOPARK Expedition
UKM’s involvement, especially in the field of geoparks, to ensure that Lenggong receives Global Geopark recognition through the expertise of the faculty members.
MALAYAN WATER SDN BHD
Presentation of the Research and Collaboration Project between MZL Consortium Limited, Malayan Water Sdn Bhd, and FST for the proposed Study and Exploration Project of Rock Water Aquifer for a 50-year concession period in the Fracture, Maintenance, Storage, and Distribution Zone as a Future Water Source in partnership with UKM.
6TH ASIAN SCIENCE DEANS SUMMIT (ASDS)
Nine (9) institutions from Indonesia signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) during the 6th ASDS held at The Everly Putrajaya Hotel.

Meeting with the Managing Director of Maywald Consultants Pty Ltd, Karlene Ann Maywald, to discuss collaboration opportunities in research and a special conference in the field of water resources for the year 2024-2025 with the assistance of Australian expertise.
Water Exhibition (SDG6)
Exhibition on Water Resources Diversity in conjunction with The 29th International Sustainable Development Research Society Conferences organized by the Faculty of Law and the UKM Strategy Center to introduce UKM’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) initiatives to conference participants.
The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department
The Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department, Selangor State, has invited Associate Professor Dr. Mohd Hariri Arifin and Dr. Nor Shahidah Mohd Nazer to give a lecture to the STORM Team and Multiskill Team (MUST) in conjunction with the Central Zone Special Team Movement Test. Discussion on professional certificates is also planned.

Led by Prof. Zhang Wencong, Deputy Vice Chancellor, and a representative from the Malaysia Edu-Culture Association. The purpose of the visit is to establish cooperation, student exchange, and research in the fields of Marine Science and Geology
Preparation Seminar for Prospective Graduates

Book Seminar & Setiu Scientific Expedition Seminar
Program organized by UKM-UniKL-IIUM-Malaysian Geological Association-TNB Research-MASIA. Objective – exploration with a focus on environmental studies, biological diversity and ecosystems, community development for geotourism, and socio-economic development in the Setiu area.
SCHOOL’S OUT KIDS IN RAHSIA DI LANGIT DAN BUMI
The Geology program was invited by the National Science Center to participate in the exhibition titled ‘Geology in National Development’ as part of School’s Out Kids In (SOKI). Associate Professor Dr. Habibah Jamil and Dr. Azrin Azmi also took part as facilitators.
