Freshmen Told To Acquire Added Value For The Future

BANGI, 19 September 2015 – Freshmen at UKM are given the opportunity to excel in the field of ​​their choice, apart from academic studies at the university.

This will help them find employment or engages in various fields such as entrepreneurship or be self-employed, said Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International Affairs), Prof Dato’ Ir Dr. Riza Atiq Abdullah O.K. Rahmat.

He said they should be prominent in their own field of interest, as if carrying a  red umbrella, which makes them stand out from among the thousands of other students across the country.

He was speaking at the 2015-2016 session of new students registration  and pledge-taking of the second batch of new undergraduate and postgraduate programme admission here today.

He urged the students to be persistent in showing off their abilities, be innovative and compete as UKM community members who can support themselves as Guardians of the Nation.

“Find an area to add value to become a more prominent student and easily recognisable. All studentss also must have team spirit and be  entrepreneurial to enhance the profile of UKM,” said Prof Riza Atiq.

According to him during their stay at UKM for between three to four years, they should strive to be better than other university students and learn to serve the nation in any field they are talented in.

According to Prof Riza Atiq, the  class of 2015/16 should out-perform their predecessors.

He added that the uniqueness of UKM has attracted the attention of the  local and international private sectors.
