BANGI, 9 November 2016 – Unity among the diverse ethnicity in Malaysia should be the thrust of Malaysia’s National Agenda, said Tan Sri Datuk Seri Panglima Lee Lam Thye, who was recently conferred the Honorary Doctorate from UKM.

“I believe that our country currently faces a range of challenges, but the most important is how we consolidate the unity of Malaysian people,” he said.

He said education is an important platform to create unity in Malaysia.

“I always believe that when we talk about the unity, it must begin from the school.

“This is because, in school we can see the students are made up of various races and they learn under one roof,” he added.

Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye received UKM’s prestigious Honorary Doctorate at the fourth session of the 44th Convocation Ceremony, that was presented by UKM Pro Chancellor, Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid.

The award was given in recognition of his contributions in organising and participating in various types of community services to promote integration and unity among Malaysians.ukmnewsportal-eg
