Three Royalties Graced UKM’s 44th Convocation Ceremony

BANGI, 6 November 2016 – Three members of the Royal family, who has close ties, namely Yang Di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan DYMM Tuanku Muhriz Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Munawir, YTM Tunku Panglima Kedah Dato’ Seri DiRaja Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz binti Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu’adzam Shah and YAM Tunku Laxamana Tunku Dato’ Seri Utama Naquiyuddin Ibni Almarhum Tuanku Tuanku Ja’afar attended UKM’s 44th Convocation Ceremony, here, yesterday.

DYMM Tuanku Muhriz is UKM’s Chancellor, while YTM Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz and YAM Tunku Naquiyuddin are UKM’s Pro-Chancellors.

UKM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datuk Dr. Noor Azlan Ghazali said this convocation ceremony is very historic because three royal relatives consented to attend this event.

He also informed that the first session of the convocation ceremony is now named the Chancellor’s Session, and celebrates the achievements of postgraduates and undergraduates who demonstrated excellence in academic and co-curricular activities.

“This prestigious session has become a symbol of the graduate’s success and is a form of recognition to the support and sacrifice given by their family,” he said while delivering his speech at the convocation ceremony.

At this convocation ceremony, UKM will also be awarding Honorary Doctorates to three national figures who have contributed to the development of UKM and the nation.

UKM also awarded the title of Professor Emeritus to six former academicians who have contributed significantly to the development of their respective fields.

UKM’s 44th Convocation will see 6,385 graduates receiving their scrolls.ukmnewsportal-eg
