UKM Established Strong Relationship with Gifu University, Japan

BANGI, 24 July 2017- Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) received a visit from Gifu University, Japan which reflected the trust to cooperate in the academic field, which would further develop both institutions.

UKM Vice Chancellor, Prof Dato’ Seri Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali said UKM and Gifu University have established a very good relationship with each other.

Currently the summer school in Gifu University has seven UKM students while three students from Gifu University will come to UKM soon.

The meeting also resulted in both parties agreeing to build a ‘mini office’ in the other university, to facilitate the sharing of information.

“I would like that one day we can have your office here and we will also have a small office there,” he said.

In addition, UKM and Gifu University aim to create a double degree program for their students.

Executive Director, Vice President of International Affairs and Public Relation in Gifu University, Prof Fumiaki Suzuki said UKM is a comprehensive university where it has various faculties compared to Gifu University.

“We chose UKM because it is one of the leading universities in Asia and also the facilities here are great,” he said.

He said Gifu University also wants to take this opportunity to learn from UKM on how to establish a new faculty, such as the faculty of Economics.
