UKM’s PERMATApintar Wins 35 Medals at WSC

Bangi, 15 July 2016 — The National University of Malaysia’s PERMATApintar Centre bagged 35 medals in the World Scholar Cup (WSC) Global Round competition held in Bangkok, Thailand recently. Represented by two teams – senior and junior — the centre accumulated a total of 35 medals which include three gold medals and 32 silver medals.

Both teams have also successfully accumulated 25,000 points, thus qualifying them for the Champion’s Tournament at Yale University, United State of America (USA) at the end of this year.

WSC Global Round is a competition which tests the efficiency of English language among students from all over the world. The competition, with the theme “An Imperfect World”, saw students participating in activities such as the Scholar’s Bowl, Scholar’s Challenge, Collaborative Writing and debate.

Representatives from PERMATApintar – Ong Jing Kai, Oh Juin Chuen, Nur Alyssa, Yashvin Kumar, Ang Jia Jiunn and Muhammad Arman Aizat – participated in all the activities which were divided into various topics such as Special Area (Crime and Justice), Science, Arts & Music, Literature, History and Social Studies.

The competition which is held for five days brought together more 3,400 participants from more than 50 countries.ukmnewsportal-eg
