A Minute Silence At UKM For Victims Of MH17

BANGI, 22 August 2014 – The National University of Malaysia (UKM) staff today joined Malaysians in the day of national mourning with a special one minute of silence to honour the arrival and funeral ceremonies of victims of flight MH17.

It started at 10.30 am at the Persada Canselori with the recitation of special supplications of Al-Fatihah for Muslims, while people of other faiths performed devotions according to their religions and customs.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Noor Azlan Ghazali officiated the programme in conjunction with the return of 20 of the 43 Malaysians who died in the incident on 17 July.

He was accompanied by the Deputy Vice-Chancellors  Prof Dato’ Dr Mazlin Mokhtar, Prof Dato’ Dr Saran Kaur Gill and Prof Ir Dr Riza Atiq OK Rahmat Abdullah.

Representatives from the various faculties, institutes, centres and departments joined in the remembrance.
