Pusat Kembangan Pendidikan (Centre of Educational Extension) or better known as PKP is an entity of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) managed by wholly owned company of the university registered as UKM Holdings Sdn Bhd. Since as early as 1995, PKP is responsible for the promoting and managing of UKM academic programs especially but not limited to the working population. PKP has been very successful in projecting its image and UKM’s reputation side by side in order to enhance its academic standing and viability; along with this is the propagation of a set values such as efficiency, affordability, friendly, service which will appeal to PKP key audiences; PKP represents; as a tagline ” Professional Knowledge Provider”.

There is a great degree of realisation among successful executives and managers worldwide that tertiary education is no longer an option. Various initiatives have been under way to facilitate studying while working programmes. The approach undertaken by PKP could be best described as packaging and repackaging of existing UKM courses into programmes that fit better with the requirements of Malaysian workforce. Formal meetings are only conducted in the evenings or during the weekends in order not to disrupt participants’ work obligations. However, in most cases, the total duration for our programme is quite similar to that pursued by full time students, for example 3 to 4 years for undergraduates degree and 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 years for postgraduate degree.

In 29 September 2021, PKP has changed the name to Center for Shaping Advanced & Professional Education (UKMSHAPE).
