Introduction

This course covers introduction to national and regional systems for nuclear safety, physical protection of nuclear materials and facilities, detection and response, principles of nuclear safeguards, nuclear material accountancy, integrated safeguards, containment and surveillance, satellite monitoring and international law.

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent, from any institution of higher learning  recognized by the UKM Senate; or
    • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 – 2.49 or equivalent, with a minimum of 5 years working experience or research project in a relevant field. Proof of the working experience of a foreign candidate should be acknowledged by the embassy of the respective country; or
    • Fulfil Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL A) for local candidates only:
        • should be more than 30 years of age in the year of application; and
        • possess at least STPM or diploma in a relevant field or other equivalent qualification recognized by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the UKM Senate; and
        • possess a certificate of MQA APEL with MQF Level 7
    • An international student shall obtain minimum results of TOEFL iBT score 46 / IELTS band 5.5 / CEFR band B2 / MUET band 3 (An international student who comes from a country where English is the official language, or who has obtained academic qualifications from any institution of higher learning that uses English as the medium of instruction may be exempted from the requirement for TOEFL / IELTS / MUET); and
    • Fulfill other requirements prescribed by the UKM Senate from time to time.

Introduction

This one year programme aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the core issues related to the theory and practice of strategy and diplomacy. It prepares and equips students from diverse academic backgrounds with the ability to explore the nexus between strategy and diplomacy within the context of the changing global environment. It focuses on the understanding of strategic and security issues, diplomacy, interstate relations, foreign policy, international political economics, international law, defence policy and regional issues. Learning will be through lectures, discussion, presentations, group work, seminars, assignments and a dissertation exercise.

    • Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) or its equivalent.
    • Preference will be given to applicants with CGPA 3.00 and above or its equivalent.
    • Mid-career professionals with nine or more years of relevant work experience will also be considered.

    • IELTS: Band 6

A Bachelor’s Degree in computing from the National University of Malaysia or any other higher education institution approved by the Senate with a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.75; 

OR

A Bachelor’s Degree in computing from the National University of Malaysia or any other higher education institution approved by the Senate with a CGPA of a minimum 2.50 but not reaching 2.75, can be considered subject to internal assessment; 

OR

A Bachelor’s Degree in computing from the National University of Malaysia or any other higher education institution approved by the Senate with a CGPA below 2.50 with at least 5 years of working experience in the field of computing can be considered; 

OR

A Bachelor’s Degree in a different field from the National University of Malaysia or any other higher education institution approved by the Senate with a minimum CGPA of 2.75, AND have no less than 5 years of working experience in the field of computing, 

AND need to complete prerequisite courses set by the program;

The country needs competent human resources in line with the rapid advancement of telecommunications and computer networking industry before 2020 to achieve developed nation status.Exposure to the latest knowledge in computer engineering and telecommunications provide wide opportunities for students to serve in various sectors such as telecommunications (electronic communication), the manufacturing sector and manufacturing (tooling and control, mechatronics), the computer industry and information technology (information systems and engineering computer).
