CADAVER EMBALMING SERVICES

Embalming is a process in which a cadaver, intended for educational and instructional purposes, is preserved with chemicals to maintain its original form and extend its longevity. The preserved cadaver can retain its authenticity for a long period and can be used repeatedly by students. This is a traditional preservation method still widely used by medical schools.

The preservative commonly used is formalin at its lowest concentration level. Formalin is a controlled chemical substance often used as a preservative, antiseptic, and disinfectant. Due to its volatility and potential carcinogenic properties, it must be handled carefully from the moment of use until its disposal.

Realizing the complexity of managing this embalming technique, the department offers an open embalming course to funeral management companies, as well as public and private higher education institutions that are interested.
