Jabatan Anatomi Fakulti Perubatan

WELCOME WORD

The Department of Anatomy was established around the 1970s, in line with the establishment of the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. This department was specifically established to provide teaching services for the pre-clinical program of the Medical Doctor (M.D.) course and also has involvement in teaching for the undergraduate nursing program at UKM.

In addition, the department offers postgraduate programs at the Master of Medical Science and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) levels with a specialization in medical anatomy. We also provide joint teaching services for the Master’s programs in Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), and Orthopedics.

Apart from teaching services, this department is also actively involved in research activities under its area of expertise. The main mission of the department is to provide education and knowledge related to human anatomy, particularly to undergraduate students, postgraduate students, professionals, and the community through teaching and learning activities, research, academic visits, the offering of short skill workshops/courses (intensive), as well as professional services such as cadaver preservation, cadaver rental for courses/workshops, specimen jar maintenance and fabrication services, and histology slide production.

Education is a bridge to achieve excellence, integrity, and accountability for an individual. Medicine, on the other hand, involves interaction with patients and understanding the conditions of the surrounding community. Therefore, we are committed to instilling knowledge and skills among students with a healthy perspective, humility, and lifelong learning to produce graduates who are qualified and capable of providing professional services to the community.
